Founder & Chairman, Manzana Energy, Inc.

Art Castañares brings 22 years of public-sector and private-sector political, public policy, and
marketing experience to Manzana's management team.

As founder of Manzana Energy, Mr.
Castañares crafted an innovative approach to solar energy
projects to deliver powerful results for governmental and non-profit organizations. By combining
his background in strategic marketing with an extensive experience in public policy and finance,
he created new solutions to fit within the unique budget constraints of these specialized clients.

From 2002 to 2008, Mr. Castañares was President of Cornerstone Strategies, a San Diego-based
strategic consulting firm serving corporate and political clients. In addition to garnering agencies'
approvals for major private developments and commercial projects, Cornerstone also managed
community outreach campaigns and spearheaded successful legislative efforts.

Previously, Mr. Castañares served more than 13 years as staff to the California State Legislature,
both in San Diego and in the State Capitol, where his experience included policy development,
budget appropriations, legislation management, press relations, and community outreach.
Art worked closely with key legislative leaders and staff on important legislation dealing with the
reform and creation of local agencies, natural resources, fiscal policy, transportation, taxation,
and infrastructure. Mr. Casta
ñares also worked closely on four consecutive California state budgets
(each over $100 billion) through both surplus and deficit years, gaining valuable experience in
complex public finance and appropriation negotiations.

Mr. Castañares also earned an impressive winning record as campaign strategist to public office
candidates and ballot measures, including successful campaigns for the California State Legislature,
mayors, city councils, school boards, and local ballot propositions. Mr. Casta
ñares has also worked
on dozens of other local, state, and federal races, including two gubernatorial and three presidential campaigns, and today he continues to serve as an advisor to several elected officials and community organizations.

In recent years, Mr. Castañares held a SECRET clearance during work with the U.S. Department
of Defense on classified projects for government research agencies including DARPA and SPAWAR.
That work helped promote the deployment of new and emerging technologies in national
defense, counter-terrorism, and cyber-security around the world. The work-product was used by
the military Joint Chiefs of Staff, the White House National Security team, and congressional
leaders in their decision-making affecting the implementation of current and future technologies.

Mr. Castañares has also been active for more than 20 years with community organizations,
including the Board of Managers of the Borderview YMCA; AYSO Region 116 Board
of Directors; the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; the
Tariq Khamisa Foundation Board of Trustees; Barrio Logan College Institute Founding Board;
and the Chicano Federation's Leadership Training Institute, as well as having served as
Chairman of the San Diego County Democratic Party.

A frequent guest on television, radio, and online news outlets as a policy expert and political
analyst, Mr.
Castañares has been honored by San Diego Metropolitan Magazine as one of the
regionís ď40 under 40Ē, a recognition of San Diego's most-promising community and business
leaders under the age of forty.

When not working, Mr. Castañares most enjoys spending time with his family. He volunteers each
